TECHNOLOGY PARTNER

PyroGenesis Canada Inc has been HPQ’s primary technology provider since 2015, developing the following high-temperature HPQ proprietary processes:

  • The PUREVAP™ Quartz Reduction Reactor (QRR)
  • The FUMED SILICA REACTOR
  • The PUREVAP™ NANO SILICON REACTOR (NSiR).

Under the terms of the agreements between HPQ and PyroGenesis, HPQ finances 100% of the development costs of these projects and will collect 90% of their potential revenue streams. PyroGenesis collects a 10% royalty.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

PyroGenesis Canada Inc., a high-tech company, is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and commercialization of advanced plasma processes and sustainable solutions which reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) and are economically attractive alternatives to conventional “dirty” processes.

PyroGenesis has created proprietary, patented, and advanced plasma technologies that are being vetted and adopted by multiple multibillion dollar industry leaders in three massive markets: iron ore pelletization, aluminum, waste management, and additive manufacturing. With a team of experienced engineers, scientists and technicians working out of its Montreal office, and its 3,800 m2 and 2,940 m2 R&D and manufacturing facilities, PyroGenesis maintains its competitive advantage by remaining at the forefront of technology development and commercialization.

The operations are ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified, having been ISO certified since 1997.

INNOVATION PARTNER

NOVACIUM became an HPQ technology provider in Q3 2022. The 3 main areas where Novacium is assisting HPQ are:

  • R&D assistance and collaboration on HPQ’s Silicon processes (PUREVAPTM RRQ).
  • R&D assistance and pre-production collaboration with HPQ Batteries initiatives.
  • Developing a new autonomous process for making hydrogen via hydrolysis of silicon and other materials.

In addition to being the primary client of Novacium, HPQ participated in Novacium first round of financing and, can over time increase its ownership upon specific millstones being reached.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Novacium is a “jeune entreprise innovante (J.E.I)” based in Lyon, France. It results from a partnership between three of France’s leading research engineers, who wanted to start a new Research and Development company to develop their technology in high-added value fields connected to renewable energy and HPQ Silicon Inc. This Canadian company wanted to find a technical team capable of helping it develop its silicon and new renewable energy projects.

Novacium’s Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), Mr. Jed KRAIEM, received his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon in 2005; he then worked for the CNRS and FerroPEM (now Ferroglobe) as Valorization engineer in order to develop an innovative process for crystallization and purifying Silicon for Photovoltaics. He was subsequently approached by Apollon Solar SAS, a French start-up, which recruited him to become the Innovation Director and later promoted him to General Manager, a position he held until recently.

Novacium’s Chief Technical Officer (“CTO”), Mr. Oleksiy NICHIPORUK, earned his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon in 2005; he then joined PHOTOWATT, the leading French producer of solar cells and panels, as an R&D engineer to work on continuous process improvement. In 2012, he joined the team at Apollon Solar as an R&D engineer and was soon promoted to CTO due to his extensive expertise, a position he held until recently.

Novacium’s Chief Innovation Officer (“CIO”), Mr. Julien DEGOULANGE, obtained his Ph.D. from the Polytechnic Institute in Grenoble in 2008 (his thesis was on purifying Si Metallurgy via plasma); he then spent a year working for NNTNU/SINTEF in Norway on Silicon crystallization as a postdoc. He went on to join Apollon Solar in 2010 as an R&D engineer and was later promoted to Head of the Silicon Business, a position he held until recently.
