HPQ CEO Highlights Commercialization Progress at 19th International Investment Forum
HPQ CEO Bernard Tourillon presented the company’s latest technology and commercialization progress during the 19th International Investment Forum held on May 20, 2026.
During the presentation, Mr. Tourillon outlined HPQ’s strategy across three advanced materials verticals: silicon-based battery materials, fumed silica, and autonomous hydrogen production. He emphasized that after more than a decade of research and development, multiple HPQ technologies are now moving toward commercial deployment simultaneously.
The company’s battery materials platform drew particular attention. Tourillon discussed HPQ’s GEN4 silicon-enhanced battery technology, which has reportedly achieved more than 7,000 mAh in 21700 cylindrical cells, positioning the technology among the highest-capacity commercially relevant formats currently being demonstrated. He also noted that HPQ’s silicon additive is designed as a “drop-in” enhancement for existing graphite anode manufacturers, potentially enabling broader adoption across battery markets ranging from drones to electric mobility.
Mr. Tourillon also highlighted progress on its fumed silica initiative developed alongside PyroGenesis Canada Inc.
According to the presentation, the company’s proprietary one-step quartz-to-fumed silica process could significantly reduce manufacturing complexity and transportation costs compared to traditional multi-step production methods. Mr. Tourillon confirmed that HPQ has signed a letter of intent with a major industry participant and is advancing commercial discussions.
The third pillar of the presentation focused on autonomous hydrogen-generation technology being developed in collaboration with Novacium SAS. Mr. Tourillon described the system as a portable hydrogen solution capable of converting recycled aluminum into energy for remote infrastructure, military applications, and off-grid communities.
He also pointed to increasing commercial interest in HPQ’s battery technology, stating that the company has signed multiple NDAs with potential strategic partners and customers evaluating the GEN4 platform.
